Do You Love Yourself?

All have doubts and fears. We all need people to love us. We all feel rejected, hurt and alone at some times in our lives, even if we are surrounded by others.

All of this is natural.

Self-love is a love we take with us forever. This is why it is so important to practice positive self-love affirmations if you feel that your love of yourself is lacking.

According to Psychology Today, self-love is “a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth”. Which makes sense, because if you appreciate and love yourself, you’ll automatically make decisions that support your best interests, right?

How To Use Affirmations For Self-Love & Self-Confidence

Speak them into the mirror in the morning

A technique popularized by the late Louise Hay, known as mirror work, involves gazing softly at your own reflection in the mirror and stating positive, loving affirmations to yourself. You could do this in just a few minutes each day and it will really help you make long-lasting change in your life.

Subliminal Affirmations

Subliminal affirmations are recorded affirmations played at a very low sound, underneath soothing music or ambient sound. That way, your conscious mind hears just the music, while your subconscious mind processes the positive affirmations!

A huge benefit here is that you can basically manifest on auto-pilot! Play your subliminal affirmations while at the gym, doing chores, or even sleeping. It’s one of the easiest ways to get started using affirmations.

Meditation

For this, you pick one of the shorter self-love affirmations and treat it like a mantra. Repeat it over and over in your head while focusing on your breath.

Tip: Here’s how to meditate if you’re not that great at it, or have never tried it before.

Today, I choose me.

I am worthy of infinite compassion.

I feel profound empathy and love for others and their own unique paths.

I choose to stop apologizing for being me.

I am at peace with all that has happened in my life.

My life is filled with joy and abundance.

Happiness flows from me

Affirmations help us to handle our negative feelings about ourselves. They help to increase self-reliance, help you take action with your life, and build self-confidence and self-esteem.

When you repeat an affirmation over-and-over again it begins to seep into our brains that those affirmations might be true. This helps of re-affirm your internal positive thinking and helps to gradually work to chase away your negativity.

Affirmations also work by creating internal incongruence. When you make an affirmation that is not 100% reality yet, such as “I will get the job promotion I seek” an incongruence happens in your mind. YOU are unsure of whether you will be able to achieve your affirmation, so this creates an incongruence between your successful affirmation and the reality of perhaps not reaching your goal.

This incongruence can only be settled in two manners.

1) Stop saying the affirmation

2) Work harder until the affirmation becomes reality

Steps to Make Self Love Affirmations Work for you

  1. List all of the things you don’t like about yourself. This can include physical things like weight and appearance, but should also include emotional things like self-confidence and self love. These areas are places you should make specific affirmations. Either find pages, like this self-love affirmation page or create your own affirmations, tailoring your affirmations to your specific needs.
  2. Write out these affirmations pointing out the positive aspects of your personality. Use a thesaurus to help you find power words that have more impact.
  3. Repeat your affirmations aloud for 5 minutes, three times a day. Morning, noon and night. This repetition will slowly help to drive the thoughts home.
  4. Make a nice image of the affirmations you can sometimes look at. Pleasant images around an affirmation help to subconsciously equate the affirmation with the good things those images represent. Feel free to download, and use any of the large self-love images on this page. That is what they are here for.
  5. While you are repeating the affirmation, work on your breathing. Breathe in slowly. Hold the breather for a beat and slowly exhale while repeating your affirmation.
  6. Get a coach, friend or family member to sometimes repeat these affirmations for you. While a key to self-love is saying these affirmations on your own, it always feels good to hear others saying positive things about you.

Self-love affirmations can be incredibly powerful tools to help you develop a positive mindset and a healthy outlook on who you are.

Hopefully, this list of 50 affirmations for self-love, self-confidence and self-worth will help you create more of what you do want in life – and less of what you don’t.

Sending you all the love and light you deserve.
